SPORT WALES GRANTS – Bowls

BOWLS CLUBS THROUGHOUT WALES TO BENEFIT THROUGH SPORT WALES GRANTS 20 Lawn and Crown Green Bowls clubs the length and breadth of Wales will benefit from £112,479 worth of funding from the Sport Wales Place for Sport grant scheme this year. The Clubs are among 118 different clubs and organisations from throughout Welsh sport to gain awards from the £1 million fund, controlled by Sport Wales. WELSH CROWN GREEN BOWLING ASSOCIATION

The Welsh Club Championship 2019 was held on Sunday 15th September at Grove Park BC, Rhyl. This year the clubs were Coed Talon, Llay, Min Y Don and Blaenau Ffestiniog, all winners of their Area Cups. WCGBA President, Dave Mathias was our host along with Deputy Simon Walker and other Members of the WCGBA Management. The referees were DT Evans, Alan Davies and Arthur Peake. Junior County Championship 2019

Junior County Championship 2019 WELSH CROWN GREEN BOWLING ASSOCIATION The final game, for our young players, in the Junior County championship was played on Sunday 8th September with the Home venue at Llanfair PG BC and the Away leg at Woodfield Sports and Social in Staffordshire. This was an important game for the team in order to maintain their inclusion in their group and they delivered in spades. BowlsWales, the co-ordinating body for bowls in Wales have been recognised for their commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, by achieving the Equality Standard for Sport Foundation Award. Welsh Crown Green Bowling 2019 Finals

WELSH CROWN GREEN BOWLING ASSOCIATION WCGBA Senior Merit 2019 (Gwyn Morris Trophy)- President, Dave Mathias with the foursemi-finalists. The Senior Men’s Individual Merit is seen as a feast of bowling, and the 2019 finals day at Benllech BC delivered just that. The event was hosted by our President Dave Mathias with excellent support and help from WCGBA Management members and Gwynedd Area Officials. Clive Morris, a great supporter like his late father, Gwyn, was also there and guest Ken Burton, a Director from Bowls Wales. Nia Butler has left her position as General Manager of BowlsWales to spend more time with her young family. Wales Win BIIBC U25 International Series

Wales won the BIIBC U25 International Series held at Aberdeen IBC, following a dominant display during the series throughout the weekend.   Steve Rees, Team Manager said “It was very pleasing to lift the title for the first time since 2004 and the team thoroughly deserved their success after fighting like tigers from the first end of the opening match to the final end of the last match.
