In the Drakes Pride Junior County Championship 2022, Wales were frustrated in their attempt to get second place. A very strong Yorkshire team won the championship as was expected, but it was the contest between Wales and Shropshire for silver that dominated everyone’s thoughts.

The Home side at Caernarfon brought some good results and it was Capt. James Todd who had the best win. Away from home at Telford Jess Lacey’s 21-8 set the bar high.

It was a very close game, with a lot of head scratching from officials as the results came in. Unfortunately Wales were to lose by a slim 7 points over all. Wales, as part of the Premier League in the Junior competition can hold their own and Bronze is no mean feat for these young players. There’s always next year.
