JustGo membership form: what you will be asked

A screen-by-screen guide to registering as a bowler in Wales on JustGo (bowlswales.justgo.com), BowlsWales's membership platform. It takes around five minutes and you can do it yourself online.

JustGo Membership Form: What You Will Be Asked | BowlsWales

Two things to know before you start

  • There is no separate paper form. You complete registration online, yourself. There is nothing for a club or committee to fill in, compile or submit.
  • Some questions reveal further fields depending on how you answer. These are marked throughout with a shaded "If you answer…" note, so you know what to expect.

Register on JustGo

Account and address details

You enter your basic contact details: first name, last name, email address, contact number, date of birth, gender, username and password. Then your address: country, address lines, town, county and postcode.

Why we ask for a home address: it is required for every member. We use it to contact members by post when we need to, to understand where bowls is played across Wales so support can go where it is needed, and to help keep people safe if a safeguarding concern arises. You can update your address in your JustGo profile at any time.

Under-18 members

This is the same screen, further down, shown here with a date of birth that makes the member under 18.

If the date of birth shows the member is under 18: a "Parent/Guardian Details" section appears automatically, asking for the parent or guardian's name and email address, before the member can continue.

Which codes of bowls

You tick every code of bowls that applies to you: Indoor, Crown Green, Short Mat and Lawn. You can select more than one.

For every code ticked: two extra questions repeat underneath, "How long have you been playing [code]?" and "How often do you play [code]?" Someone who plays both Indoor and Short Mat answers both questions twice.

The codes of bowls checklist with Indoor ticked, and the questions about how long and how often you play Indoor appearing directly underneath.

Coaching and officiating

Coaching

You are asked, "Do you currently coach bowls?"

If "yes": a follow-up asks whether you are a member of the Welsh Bowls Coaching Association (WBCA), with a confirmation note explaining that BowlsWales uses this to check DBS and qualifications are current.

The coaching question answered Yes, with a follow-up asking about Welsh Bowls Coaching Association membership and a confirmation note.
Coaching answered "yes", with the WBCA membership follow-up and confirmation note.

Officiating

The same pattern repeats for the next question, "Do you currently officiate in bowls?"

If "yes": a follow-up asks whether you are a member of the Welsh Bowls Umpires Association (WBUA), with the same confirmation note.

The officiating question answered Yes, with a follow-up asking about Welsh Bowls Umpires Association membership.
Officiating answered "yes", with the equivalent WBUA question.

Club and organisation

Club membership

You are asked, "Are you part of any club?"

If "yes": a search tool appears so you can find and add each club you belong to, one at a time. You can add more than one.

Organisation / association

You also confirm which of BowlsWales's affiliated organisations you are associated with, from a checklist of all six: WBCA, WBUA, WCGBA, WIB, WLB and WSMBA.

This is also the route for members whose club is not yet listed on JustGo. For example, some WSMBA members currently register this way rather than against a specific club.

A further question asks which of the following you can do in Welsh: understand spoken Welsh, speak Welsh, read Welsh, write Welsh, none of the above, or prefer not to say.

Equality monitoring (voluntary)

This section is introduced as optional throughout, and "prefer not to say" is offered on every question. It asks about ethnic group, disability or long-term health condition, religion, whether you identify as transgender, and sexual orientation.

Adjustments or support

You are then asked, "Do you require any adjustments or support to take part in bowls?"

If "yes": a free-text box appears: "Please explain the adjustment or support you need."

The adjustments or support question answered Yes, with a free-text box asking you to explain the adjustment or support you need.

Caring responsibilities

"Do you have caring responsibilities?" is answered from a dropdown with three options. A final question in this section asks whether you would be interested in coaching, officiating or volunteering in a club role.

Answered via dropdown: Yes, No, or Maybe.
