Covid-19 Indoor Bowls Update
Following the First Minister’s announcements on Friday 31st July, we welcomes the news below. ‘If conditions remain favourable, from 10 August: ‘Swimming pools, indoor fitness studios, gyms, spas and indoor leisure centres will be able to re-open.’ BowlsWales are working collaboratively with the National Governing Bodies to finalise the Indoor Guidelines and intend to distribute as soon as possible. We await the revised Welsh Government’s Coronavirus Regulations together with the Welsh Government’s updated guidance. Joint Statement from BowlsWales and National Governing Bodies
Statement-03/08/2020 BowlsWales met with all the National Governing Bodies for bowls on 20th July to agree a way forward for the administration and organisation of the sport in Wales. In a positive meeting it was unanimously agreed to establish a working party with equal representation from Bowls Wales and the National Governing Bodies to explore potential amendments to the Articles of Association for BowlsWales, prior to recruiting for the vacant Director posts at Bowls Wales.

BOWLS CLUBS THROUGHOUT WALES BENEFIT THROUGH SPORT WALES GRANTS
Sport Wales’s Emergency Relief Fund, which has been in place since the start of the lockdown, has come to an end – with a number of Bowls Clubs throughout Wales benefiting from its payouts. The Coronavirus lockdown posed a serious financial risk to many bowls clubs in Wales due to a loss of income while fixed costs still needed to be paid. During this period, Sport Wales received 741 applications from all sports and awarded £618,234 to help safeguard the futures of hundreds of clubs.
