The Welsh Club Championship Finals took place on Sunday 17th September at Conwy Bowling Club. It was to be a good days’ bowling with a nail-biting finish. The four Clubs competing, who had each won their Area stage, were Llanrwst, Esclusham, Rhos Park and Broughton and Bretton. Peter Brill, long serving Safeguarding lead for bowls in Wales steps down Peter Brill will be known by many across the bowling community, for his role as the safeguarding lead for outdoor and indoor bowls. John Phillips from the WBA and WIB said, “Peter Brill has acted as the safeguarding officer for the WBA, WIB and its predecessor the WIBA for more than ten years, on that period of time he has devoted his time to ensuring that both outdoor and indoor bowls clubs in Wales were made aware of the importance of safeguarding of young people and vulnerable adults.

Chris Emsley 6 year term comes to an end
After 6 years’ service on the BowlsWales Board, Chris’ term has come to an end. Chris was appointed to the board in 2017 and was one of the first directors on the board following the formation of BowlsWales. BowlsWales and The National Federation of Women’s Institutes in Wales are happy to announce a new partnership that will see greater opportunities provided to women across Wales to play bowls. Earlier this year the Bowls in Wales Development and Communications group identified a set of key priorities, one of which was to increase the membership of Women and girls in bowls. As a result, BowlsWales is thrilled to announce this exciting new partnership. Working with the NFWI-Wales federations will see BowlsWales working closely with their members and bowls clubs to offer various bowls activities for the WI members across Wales.

Welsh Crown Green Bowling Association- Welsh Ladies’ Merit
The major competitions of the Crown Green season 2023 got underway with the Welsh Ladies Merit held at Old Colwyn Bowling Club. The weather was ideal and there was a good crowd. Entry this year was well up from 2022 with 18 ladies playing for the trophy. WCGBA President, Jack Hunt hosted the day by getting each game underway. WELSH CROWN GREEN BOWLING ASSOCIATION- Welsh Qualifier for the British Centenary Mixed Pairs Comp. 2022
The Mixed Pairs qualifier and Welsh final day was held at Craig-y-Don BC on Sunday 28th August 2022. Referees on the day were, DT Evans, Alan Davies, Arthur Peake and Richard Haywood. Entry was substantially higher this year with 17 mixed pairs contending on the day. The early rounds got underway with Nicola Boulton and partner Tom Loundes taking an excellent win 21-11 for their first game. Our learning disability bowlers had two pairs qualify from last weeks heats and progressed to the quarter-finals of the Welsh Learning Disability Outdoor Pairs competition today. Both managed to get through their Quarter-Final games this morning, and played their Semi-Finals this afternoon. Naomi Baelz and Millie Campbell won their Semi-final by a big margin.
