There were mixed fortunes for the Welsh team today on the second day of the games at Broadbeach.
The Men’s Triple continue their fine form with a 27 10 win over Papua New Guinea which secures them safe passage to the Quarter Finals. Wales will play England tomorrow in the last game of the group stage which will determine the top spot in the group.
Currently sitting second in the group Dan Salmon and Marc Wyatt kept their Pairs campaign alive with a convincing win over Jamaica 33-4. Tomorrow the pair will play their final group game against Northern Ireland who are sitting third in the group.
The Women’s Fours came up short against current table leaders Scotland in round three, with Scotland coming away with a 22 – 10 victory. The group stage of the Women’s Fours has now been completed with the Welsh foursome finishing third in the group.
Laura Daniels in the Women’s Singles has also sealed her place in the knockout stages with a 21 – 11 victory over Jersey’s Rachel Macdonald. Another top of the group battle tomorrow as Laura will play Scotland’s Caroline Brown tomorrow who is currently sitting top with a 5 shot lead.
Our visionally impaired Mixed Pairs Julie Thomas & Gilbert Miles with Directors John Wilson and Bryon John secured their first win today over Scotland 13 – 7. Whilst the B6/B7/B8 triples suffered a loss to Scotland 27 – 4. Tomorrow will see the triples play South Africa, while the pairs will play England.
