Welsh Veterans Finals Day – 1st June 2022 – held at the Caernarfon Bowling Club.

The Quarter Finals saw the following results: John Bonatti (Coed Talon) – 21 Geraint Roberts (Prestatyn Highbury) – 9 Elfyn Jones (Caerwys) – 21 Phil Holmes (Prestatyn Highbury) – 11 Kerrie Jones (Gresford Colliery) – 21 Bob Jones (Mold Rec) 15 Brian Hayes (Esclusham) – 21 Kevin Williams (Craig Y Don) – 15.   The Semi Finals were dominated by the Jones’ with Elfyn beating John 21/12 and Kerrie beating Brian 21/11. WELSH CROWN GREEN BOWLING ASSOCIATION 2022 JUNIOR MERIT FINAL.

After a two year absence the Crown Green world in Wales was pleased to hold the Junior Merit Final – this year at Abergele Bowling Club on Sunday 29th May. The event was well attended, as you might expect, and Abergele welcomed parents, grand-parents, past Presidents of the WCGBA and BCGBA, officials and sixteen excited players. Entries were much reduced with Covid preventing this event, meaning that many former junior players were now no longer eligible to enter. WORLD BOWLS & IIBC WORLD INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS BRISTOL INDOOR BOWLS STADIUM – 25th MAY to 29TH MAY

Following the lifting of Covid19 restrictions World Bowls and the IIBC held the first major indoor championships, sixty four bowlers from twenty nine different countries took part in the event hosted by the Bristol Club. Robert Chisholm, Kerry Packwood, and Amy Williams represented Wales. The competition was made up of a men’s singles, ladies singles and mixed pairs events with the first three days being in groups with a round robin format and the best of two sets with a tie break if required. Home Nations Disability Bowls Event

Wales produced their best ever performance in a Home Nations Disability Bowls event when despite finishing third behind England and Scotland at Solihull the standard of play by most of the Welsh players was of a high standard, a point not overseen by England and Scotland management and players who were both impressed by the improvement of our National team. Swansea’s Toby Warren returned 3 wins and a draw from his 4 matches and was closely followed by Ffrith duo Kevin and Babs Woolmore who both had 3 wins and a defeat. Welsh Learning Disability Indoor Bowls Pairs Championship

On Sunday 20th February, 40 bowlers took to the green at Cardiff Indoor Bowls Club to compete for three Classifications titles in the Welsh Learning Disability Pairs Championship 2022. Well done to all competitors who took part in this competition, despite the awful weather conditions, all the entrants arrived safely.  Some tremendous bowling was witnessed by over 90 Bowlers, Volunteers, Coaches and supporters.  Bowlers from Pembroke, Radnorshire, Islwyn, Rhondda and Cardiff Chameleons, took part in round robin competitions in three separate classifications. The winners and runner-up in each Classification going on to the Semi-Finals and Finals to determine the Welsh Champions.

LDIBIS Full steam ahead for Cardiff.

The Learning Disability Indoor Bowls International Series Management team and the athletes and volunteers are ready to rock and roll in Cardiff in April. After the event being postponed, due to the covid 19 pandemic a total of three times, the LDIBIS event for the Munro Cup will be held in Cardiff on 26th, 27th & 28th April 2022 (with some covid-19 restrictions). Welsh Government announcement 28/01/2022

Following the Welsh Government announcement this afternoon, from 28th January, restrictions to outdoor events and gatherings will be removed as Wales completes move to Alert level 0. • From 28th January, Wales will return to Alert Level 0, meaning there will be no restrictions on gathering or number limits for indoor activity • Clubs and operates must still carry out a COVID risk assessment of your club or facility in order to mitigate the risk of spreading Coronavirus • Face-covering rules will remain in force with the exception of hospitality settings such as restaurants, pubs, cafes and nightclubs • The

Welsh Government announcement 14/01/2022

Following the Welsh Government announcement this afternoon, from 15th January, restrictions to outdoor events and gatherings will change, where by 500 people can participate and 500 can spectate. Other dates to highlight are the following; • From 22nd January, Outdoor Restrictions will return to Alert Level 0 • From 28th January, Wales will return to Alert Level 0, meaning there will be no restrictions on gathering or number limits for indoor activity – This is on the condition if the downward trend of cases continues • Clubs and operates must still carry out a COVID risk assessment of your club
