Hong Kong International Bowls Classic

The following players have been selected to represent Wales at the Hong Kong International Bowls Classic:   Alis Butten, Lampeter Hannah Williams, Blue Anchor Mark Harding, Ely Valley Andrew Fleming, Machynlleth   Lawn Bowls Association of Hong Kong, China will be hosting its annual international event “Hong Kong International Bowls Classic” between 11 November and 19 November 2023. Guernsey 2023 NatWest International Island Games

The teams are in and the draws are made for the NatWest International Island Games Indoor Bowls. With just a little over a month to go. The teams and draws have been made for the Indoor Bowls event to be held at the Guernsey Indoor Bowls Center, Hougue Du Pommier, Vale, Guernsey. GY6 8BD. From Sunday 9th to Thursday 13th July 2023. The first games are scheduled to start at 9am on Sunday 9th July where we will see the start of the triples championship. Group A features the Guernsey Men, Jersey Women, Falklands Islands Men, Ynys Mon and Orkney.

World Bowls Indoor Championships 2023

World Bowls Indoor Championships – Welsh representatives Daniel Salmon and Amy Williams will be taking part in this competition between the 7th  to 12th of May. Good luck to them both as they prepare for the event held at Warilla Bowls & Recreation Club, NSW, Australia. The World Indoor Bowls Championships will begin with the Mixed Pairs event, followed by the respective singles competitions. The Indoor Para Home Nations Championships 2023

The Welsh Para Team will be in action this weekend at Newport IBC, competing in the Indoor Para Home Nations Championships 2023. The first match starts on Friday 21st at 1:30pm against England before hosting Scotland Friday evening starting at 6:30pm.   The format for both games are 2 x VI Singles and a VI pairs match along with 2 x PD triples and singles matches with a total of 14 points are at stake in both matches.   The following day sees the format change to all pairs matches with 12 points up for grabs in both games against

Ross Owen announced as part of Team Wales Athletes Commission Board

Ross Owen has been announced as part of Team Wales Athletes Commission board. Ross will join athletes from a range of other sports as they work over the next four year cycle towards Victoria 2026 Commonwealth Games. His role will include inputting valuable athlete opinion and experiences to ensure that Team Wales can prepare all athletes for the next Commonwealth Games. Ross has competed at the highest level for Wales over the last few years having won  British Isles titles and medalled at the Atlantic Championships twice. The 2023 British Isle Indoor Bowls Council Championships

The 2023 BIIBC Championships were held from 13th – 15th March in Abbeyview, Scotland. The champions of each respective discipline from the Channel Isles, England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales competed to be crowed British Champion. It was a great success for the Welsh Ladies, with Lowri Powell making it to the Ladies Singles finals while Lauren Gowan was crowned BIIBC Junior Ladies Singles Champion. The championships ended in more silverware for the Welsh Ladies, with Marion Purcell, Amy Williams, Kerry Packwood and Kelly Packwood being crowned the BIIBC Ladies Fours Winners. Chris Ashman and Anwen Butten announced as Welsh Team Managers for the 2023 outdoor season

Experienced Welsh international bowlers Chris Ashman and Anwen Butten announced as Welsh Team Managers for the 2023 outdoor season. Both are seasoned international players themselves having medalled at European and Commonwealth Games respectively. Chris Ashman began his bowling career at the age of 6 but states that he “was not allowed to play my first game for Porthcawl until I was 10.” Since then he has gone on to represent Wales at numerous events winning individual and combination titles at national, international and European level. GETTING TO KNOW YOU….A LITTLE BETTER. In the fourth of Crown Green’s profiles this seasons, we have one of the games true veterans, Jack Hunt. Jack was born in Nantwich, Cheshire and moved to Wales in 1976. On leaving school he studied construction and engineering going on to be a Civil Engineering Draughtsman before being called up for National Service.  Following this, Jack studied Design and Technology becoming a teacher in Manchester, Cheshire and Wales schools. He was also an adviser for schools. He was introduced to bowls and was coached by his father at the tender age of five.

British Isles Gents Junior International Series

Over the weekend the Welsh Gents Under 25 international team competed at the British Isles Gents Junior International Series at County Antrim Indoor Bowling Club, Belfast. The team played England, Scotland and Ireland. The team was led by Team Manager S Jackson, Welsh President B Broad and Team Captain N Rees.
