WELSH CROWN GREEN BOWLING ASSOCIATION

The Welsh Club Championship 2019 was held on Sunday 15th September at Grove Park BC, Rhyl. This year the clubs were Coed Talon, Llay, Min Y Don and Blaenau Ffestiniog, all winners of their Area Cups. WCGBA President, Dave Mathias was our host along with Deputy Simon Walker and other Members of the WCGBA Management. The referees were DT Evans, Alan Davies and Arthur Peake. Welsh Crown Green Bowling 2019 Finals

WELSH CROWN GREEN BOWLING ASSOCIATION WCGBA Senior Merit 2019 (Gwyn Morris Trophy)- President, Dave Mathias with the foursemi-finalists. The Senior Men’s Individual Merit is seen as a feast of bowling, and the 2019 finals day at Benllech BC delivered just that. The event was hosted by our President Dave Mathias with excellent support and help from WCGBA Management members and Gwynedd Area Officials. Clive Morris, a great supporter like his late father, Gwyn, was also there and guest Ken Burton, a Director from Bowls Wales. The Referees for the day were DT Evans, Alan Davies, Arthur Peake and Ian Black.

Wales v Staffordshire Wales took their second County match win of the 2019 season when they played Staffordshire on Sunday 2nd June. The Home venue was Esclusham and the Away venue Heath Hayes Cons Club. Read more here.

WIBA/WLIBA Juniors Round-up

The climax to the 2018/2019 indoor season once again combined the WIBA/WLIBA Junior Competitions alongside the WIBA Competitions finals. This year the finals were held at Earlswood Indoor Bowls Club near Swansea over the weekend of 12th, 13th & 14th April. Pictured are the winners of the respective competitions. IIBC WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS AT MERTHYR

Welsh players fared well in the IIBC World Bowls Championships at Merthyr Tydfil with 18 year old Jack Breen finishing runner up to Scotland’s Stewart Anderson in the Mens Singles event and there was also a runners up spot for Newport’s Kerry Packwood and Port Talbot star Mike Brain in the Mixed Pairs competition. Islwyn’s Amy Williams reached the semi final of the Ladies Singles competition and Merthyr Tydfil’s Pauline Price reached the last four in the Mixed Pairs event giving Wales 2 Silver Medals and 2 Bronze.
