We have a few things to be proud of this year, especially the ladies. Wales has the British Junior Ladies Champion for the second season in a row with Jess Lacey’s recent win at Heswall.
We can also congratulate Linda Williams for getting to the final of the Ladies Champion of Champions on Sunday 1st October at Monk’s Sports and Social Club, Warrington.
Linda, who has won this event twice ( 2010 and 2018) had a good run of games throughout the days’ play. She won 21-1 over Helen Clee in the first round then a 21-17 over Louise Ollerton in round two. She carried on in stunning form to win 21-2 against Alexis Lunn-Gadd at the Quarter final stage. There seemed to be no stopping Linda as she won her Semi Final game 21-15 over Andrea Buckley, this year’s British Ladies winner.
After a long day, Linda had to settle for the Runner up spot with Jenny Moore from the Isle of Man taking the title 21-10. Linda played splendidly all day and gave Wales something to be proud of.
All eyes will now be on the Centenary Mixed Pairs this weekend at Owley Wood where Wales has three pairs in the competition. We look forward to 2024 already.
