The Mixed Pairs qualifier and Welsh final day was held at Craig-y-Don BC on Sunday 28th August 2022.

Referees on the day were, DT Evans, Alan Davies, Arthur Peake and Richard Haywood.

Entry was substantially higher this year with 17 mixed pairs contending on the day.

The early rounds got underway with Nicola Boulton and partner Tom Loundes taking an excellent win 21-11 for their first game. Paul and Marie Hallett also progressed to the next round along with Gary and Sian Maddox, and Linda Williams with partner Ritchie Jameson. These four eventually made the semi final stage.

Here Linda and Ritchie played the Hallett duo, who were in excellent form. Marie, playing at the back for most of the day came up with some cracking woods to secure an end at times, and booked their place in the final. Nicola and Tom played equally well to beat Sian and Gary Maddox – a couple who have only taken up the sport in the last three years.

In the final Nicola and Tom made a devastating pair. Paul and Marie played well but were unable to catch the others. Nicola and Tom won out 21-7.

This mixed pairs day is always a relaxed affair and very enjoyable to watch. Wales now has four pairs going to the British Mixed Pairs day in early October. They will be Nicola Boulton and Tom Loundes, Sian and Gary Maddox, Linda Williams and Ritchie Jameson and Paul and Marie Hallett. Our best to them all.
