New Event Confirmed for Learning Disability Bowlers!
Learning Disabilities within indoor bowls needed a yearly event to galvanise countries and athletes and so the Learning Disabilities Indoor Bowls International Series (LDIBIS) was born. Frantic Five
Congratulations to the junior team from Rhondda Indoor Bowls Club who were recently crowned the inaugural champions of the new WIBA Frantic Five competition. The inaugural Frantic Five competition took place on Sunday 8th April at Radnorshire Indoor Bowls Club. The competition was organised by the WIBA to encourage young bowlers to play competitively in a team environment, whilst having fun and embracing the spirit of the game. MSCT (the Millennium Stadium Charitable Trust) have announced a one-off Grant Scheme called the YOUTH FUND GRANT. The grants are available to organisations providing for young people age 14 to 19 Years old. Funding is STRICTLY for equipment, training, and project delivery costs only. The need for clubs reaching out into community events has never been greater, and there are some great examples of this happening across Wales to promote our sport. At a recent ageing well event at the Grand Theatre in Swansea, organised by the Local Authority and partners, Swansea Indoor Bowls Club successfully hosted an information stand aimed at attracting new members. Top juniors decended on Newport Indoor Bowls Club last week for the World Indoor Bowls Council’s World under 25 Championships. The three day event saw top players from Wales, Scotland, Ireland, England, Isle of Man, Gurnsey and Canada vying it out for the three titles up for grabs. Team Wales Para-Sport Selections Announced For Cycling, Bowls and Table Tennis
Commonwealth Games Wales have today revealed the names of seven Welsh athletes selected to compete for Team Wales in three of the para-sports featured at next year’s Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia. The latest 2018 Team Wales athletes to be confirmed will be competing in para-cycling, para-lawn bowls and para-table tennis. The Welsh para-athletics squad was announced earlier this week.
