As the co-ordinating body for all forms of bowls in Wales, BowlsWales is happy to advise clubs and individuals about the current Coronavirus situation, which is fast-moving and constantly developing. The administration of the various leagues and other tournaments throughout Wales are the organisational responsibility of the various National Governing Bodies, and these are best placed to answer queries about their administration and rules. The Welsh and UK Governments are in the process of formulating plans to assist businesses and other organisations and are also issuing advice as to whether they should close or remain open during this time. We will continue to follow advice from Public Health Wales, the World Health Organisation and both local and national government on the current COVID-19 situation. WELSH LEARNING DISABILITY PAIRS CHAMPIONSHIPS 2020

  On Sunday 23rd February, 36 bowlers took to the green at Cardiff Indoor Bowls Club to see who would be the Welsh Learning Disability Pairs Champions for 2020. Well done to all competitors who took part in this, the first Welsh Learning Disability Indoor Bowls Pairs Championship. Some tremendous bowling was witnessed by over 90 Coaches, Supporters and Officials. Bowlers from Pembroke, Radnorshire, Islwyn, Rhondda and 21 bowlers from Cardiff Chameleons took part in round robin competitions in three separate classifications. BOWLS CLUBS THROUGHOUT WALES TO BENEFIT THROUGH SPORT WALES GRANTS 20 Lawn and Crown Green Bowls clubs the length and breadth of Wales will benefit from £112,479 worth of funding from the Sport Wales Place for Sport grant scheme this year. The Clubs are among 118 different clubs and organisations from throughout Welsh sport to gain awards from the £1 million fund, controlled by Sport Wales. Wales Win BIIBC U25 International Series

Welsh Bowlers success at Special Olympic Anniversary Games

The Anniversary Games in Stirling was celebrating Special Olympic GB’s 40th Anniversary and Special Olympic Worldwide’s 50th Anniversary.  Indoor Bowls was a late inclusion in the Anniversary Games which meant that only a small percentage of Welsh Bowlers were available for selection.  Cardiff Chameleons Bowls section, based at Sophia Gardens, is the biggest club in Wales for people with Intellectual Learning Difficulties.  Our numbers have increased considerably, following the success of the Welsh Bowlers at the National Summer Games in 2017 where a squad of 14 Bowlers came home with 20 medals.  The club now numbers 25 bowlers with many

Junior Merit – Crown Green Bowling

It was definitely a case of ‘thunderbolt and lightning’ at the Welsh Junior Merit at Benllech on Sunday 27th May. Deputy President, Dave Mathias was our host with Referees DT Evans, Arthur Peake and Alan Davies. This year we had a smaller number of entries than previous occasions with a field of 24 players from across North Wales.
