Innovation Fund

In recognition of the effect that COVID-19 has brought on the sport and leisure sector, the Welsh Government has provided additional funding to support the sector in its greatest need. The fund is intended to provide essential support to sports clubs and organisations, independent providers and sporting events who have all faced significant challenges during the crisis and continue to be severely impacted. In order to provide the widest possible opportunity to maximise the benefits from this additional funding, BowlsWales have decided to allocate the fund in three ways: £5,000 to fund BowlsWales Projects (which can deliver opportunities for all codes)

COVID-19 easing of restrictions brought forward

BowlsWales and the National Governing Bodies (WBA, WWBA, WIBA, WLIBA, WCGBA, WSMBA) welcome the Welsh Government’s movement to bring forward the easing of restrictions and that in doing so they have sought to prioritise sport and exercise. The Welsh Government have issued a written statement, and due to the improving coronavirus situation in Wales dates for the return of sport have been brought forward. Outdoor Group activity for up to 30 adults can restart from the 26 April, where it had previously been the 3 May. Welsh Government announcement- 26th March

BowlsWales, WBA, WWBA and WCGBA welcome the Welsh Government’s announcement that Organised outdoor children’s activities can resume. This will allow any person under 18 years old to take part in organised outdoor activity. The number of people who can meet outdoors is now a maximum of 6 people from 2 different households. You will find Club guidelines on BowlsWales and NGB websites. Joint Statement from BowlsWales and National Governing Bodies

Statement-03/08/2020 BowlsWales met with all the National Governing Bodies for bowls on 20th July to agree a way forward for the administration and organisation of the sport in Wales. In a positive meeting it was unanimously agreed to establish a working party with equal representation from Bowls Wales and the National Governing Bodies to explore potential amendments to the Articles of Association for BowlsWales, prior to recruiting for the vacant Director posts at Bowls Wales.
