WELSH CROWN GREEN BOWLING ASSOCIATION- Welsh Qualifier for the British Centenary Mixed Pairs Comp. 2022

The Mixed Pairs qualifier and Welsh final day was held at Craig-y-Don BC on Sunday 28th August 2022. Referees on the day were, DT Evans, Alan Davies, Arthur Peake and Richard Haywood. Entry was substantially higher this year with 17 mixed pairs contending on the day. The early rounds got underway with Nicola Boulton and partner Tom Loundes taking an excellent win 21-11 for their first game. Paul and Marie Hallett also progressed to the next round along with Gary and Sian Maddox, and Linda Williams with partner Ritchie Jameson. These four eventually made the semi final stage. Here Linda

The BCGBA Junior Individual Merit was held on Saturday 20th August 2022 at Ashton Cricket Club, Greater Manchester. Wales may be only one part of the Crown Green world in Britain, but we punch well above our weight when it comes to talent. Our two representatives Ryan P Williams – Llanfair PG BC. ( 2022 Welsh Junior Merit Champion ) and Finley Hormbrey – Fron Park BC and 2022 Runner-up faced a field of other talented youngsters from across the world of Crown Green bowls. Ryan had a comfortable 21-10 win in his first match against Jack Brannon of Cheshire.

BCG Ladies Dorothy Piearce Memorial Pairs. This popular ladies pairs competition reached its final day on Saturday 12th August at Fox Lane Sports and Social Club ,Leyland, Lancashire. 32 pairs – two pairs from each county competing for the trophy. Wales has come close to clinching the title of champions before. Linda Williams and partner Belinda Lloyd started their campaign solidly with a 21-17 win in the first round against a couple from North Midlands.
