Keeley Spriggs, BowlsWales National Safeguarding Officer recently handed in resignation to focus on her university degree as she heads into her final year. We wish Keeley all the best for the future and thank her for her contribution. WCGBA Ladies Champion of Champions
We have a few things to be proud of this year, especially the ladies. Wales has the British Junior Ladies Champion for the second season in a row with Jess Lacey’s recent win at Heswall. We can also congratulate Linda Williams for getting to the final of the Ladies Champion of Champions on Sunday 1st October at Monk’s Sports and Social Club, Warrington. Linda, who has won this event twice ( 2010 and 2018) had a good run of games throughout the days’ play. She won 21-1 over Helen Clee in the first round then a 21-17 over Louise Ollerton

WCGBA Welsh Vets Club Championship
On Tuesday 26 September, the Mel Higham Welsh Vets Club Championship was played at Argoed BC. WCGBA Officials were, once again, there to support and run the event. Referees Arthur Peake and Alan Davies – having dried out from Sunday – were joined by Peter Hughes. The four teams to qualify this year were Gresford Colliery – the 2022 winners, Coed Talon, Criccieth and Rhos Park. The pairing of Coed Talon with Rhos Park for one section of the competition saw a few more successes for Coed Talon especially Richie Jamieson 21-12 over Wynne Evans, John Bonatti’s 21-16 over Ronnie

WCGBA Champion of Champions
As the 2023 season comes to a close on the WCGBA Competitions, the two remaining competitions were held this week. On Sunday, 24th September, the Welsh Champion of Champions was staged at Benllech BC. In a day of appalling weather conditions, the situation was challenging for all, including the reporter. Despite this, some of the bowling was truly of Championship quality. There were 16 players, each winners of a major Welsh title to qualify.
