Articles Review

Regular review of the Company Articles is a normal part of any good governance process, as the BowlsWales Company was set up in June 2017 now was a good time for the review to take place. It was agreed that an Articles Review Working Group comprising of representatives from the Members and the Board would undertake a full review and make recommendations. The group had support from Sport Wales, the BowlsWales General Manager and a governance consultant. The resulting document has not changed significantly but has changed in some key areas. Richard Bowen steps down as a Director of BowlsWales

Richard Bowen has stepped down from the board of BowlsWales, having decided not to renew his Directorship following the expiry of his three year term. Ken Burton, Chair of BowlsWales, commented “Richard has been an excellent Director, and he has made an outstanding contribution to BowlsWales since its establishment in 2017. We are sorry that he has decided to stand down.” Everyone at BowlsWales would like to thank Richard for his contribution over the years and his dedication to the sport of bowls.

Lockdown Statement- Bridgend, Blaenau Gwent, Merthyr Tydfil & Newport

On Tuesday 22nd September, new restrictions will begin in the following Borough Council Areas: Bridgend Blaenau Gwent Merthyr Tydfil Newport These restrictions will mean that, in these areas, from tomorrow: People will not be allowed to enter or leave these areas without a reasonable excuse, such as travel for work or education. People will only be able to meet people they don’t live with outdoors; They will not be able to form, or be in, extended households.  Everyone over 11 years old will be required to wear face coverings in indoor public areas – as is the case across Wales.

BowlsWales Statement 25 September 2020- Local Lockdowns

The Health Minister announced further local lockdowns, which come into force this weekend across Llanelli town and Swansea and Cardiff Counties. We ask Bowls Club to consult both national and local authority networks for the most up to date guidance in their areas. Covid-19 Indoor Bowls Update

  Following the First Minister’s announcements on Friday 31st July, we welcomes the news below. ‘If conditions remain favourable, from 10 August: ‘Swimming pools, indoor fitness studios, gyms, spas and indoor leisure centres will be able to re-open.’ BowlsWales are working collaboratively with the National Governing Bodies to finalise the Indoor Guidelines and intend to distribute as soon as possible. We await the revised Welsh Government’s Coronavirus Regulations together with the Welsh Government’s updated guidance.
